A song about getting older

Hiya Panpals,

I hope this email finds you well! Things are ok here, though not without their coronavirus concerns right now to be honest with you. I wish it was all in the distant past, don’t you?

Rhetorical question, the answer is of course: 1 BILLION PERCENT, YES.

A Song About Getting Older

I recently recorded a song I wrote some years ago, but the subject matter has only gotten truer. It’s a sentimental little number about getting older. I hope you like it!

All My Friends Are Turning Grey

If you enjoy this song you can buy it on Bandcamp :)

Your ‘Flower’ Arrangements!

I’m afraid I didn’t have time to make a video showcasing your blooming brilliant (HAHA BLOOMING LIKE FLOWERS!) creative efforts this time, but the entries are available to view now on the invitation page…

Make a Flower Arrangement (Without Any Flowers)

My personal favourite is the music cable bouquet because my studio is constantly clogged with a tangle of cables. It’s helped me frame it as maybe a romantic bed of flowers rather than an unmanageable nightmare hellhole. Hooray!

Shows!

My partner Katie and I are doing an improvised storytelling show for kids with a live improvised soundtrack + songs in Bristol on 14th August. It’s our first in person show together since we had a baby :)

It’s a fun project we do together called Adventure Bureau!

Good Stuff

Things I’ve enjoyed you might enjoy too…

🎬 Rocks

A touching and superbly acted British film about a teenage girl whose mother suddenly leaves home, leaving her to fend for herself and her brother. The film was developed and written in conjuction with the cast who are mostly non-professional actors from the area of London it was shot in. It feels amazingly natural!

📼 Solopsist

I haven’t been on tiktok much at all, but I recently found a link to these amazingly surreal short videos based around a phone booth, which make liberal use of practical effects to twist things into freakin’ weeeird territories, man.

📼 Happy - Postmodern Jukebox ft. Gunhild Carling

Gunhild Carling is a Swedish multi-instrumentalist jazz musician who has a flare for entertaining in playful ways! I saw a video of her playing 3 trumpets at once, which led to this video of her playing Happy on a bunch of different instruments, including a triple-trumpet parp-bonanza! Toot-toot-toooooot!

📼 I was on Blind Date

Musical comedy man Brett Domino took an old episode of Blind Date and superimposed himself into the show, this comedy short really tickled me!

More Good Stuff in the archives

That’s it for this time!

Go well, friends, stay safe and have fun!

LOVE YOU BYE!
