Hi Panpals!

It’s been almost a year since I last wrote. What the heck happened? I guess I’ve been busy with work, with being a dad, and mentally preparing for the arrival of MY SECOND CHILD! That’s right I gone and went and made another mini-pan, who arrived at the end of July! He’s called Rudi and he’s awesome. Since then I’ve been getting to grips with life with a 2.5 year old and a 0 year old which has been pretty INTENSE to say the least, but it’s settling a bit now and we’re all having a nice time for the most part (written with gritted teeth after my toddler woke up and kicked off for 2 hours in the middle of the night last night…)

I’ve recently been having real good time making silly songs outside, although it’s getting colder now so we’ll see if I have the guts to make more… Anyway, I hope you’ll enjoy these outdoor performances :)

Conkers - a song about conkers!

Wonky Tree Stump - a song about a wonky tree stump

It’s nice to write songs for nature, just giving something back to Mother Earth y’know? Neither the conkers or the tree stump said thank you though, bit rude imo.

Other Things!

  • In my experiments in making music without computers I’ve been toying with a small, awesome, (polarisingly expensive) synthesizer/sampler/four track recorder called the OP-1 Field. I made a chirpy lil track called Do It Like That. Maybe you will like it, I don’t know.

  • The keen eyed among you will notice my website has had a bit of a redesign. You can read about that here!

Live Dates!

I’ve not performed live for yonks, but I’m excited to say I’ll be performing at Space Jungle New Years Day Rave at the Trinity Center in Bristol. It’s a family friendly event and I’m gonna do lots of silly songs, live looping and sampling kids voices live to make wonky music on the fly :D

Good Stuff!

Things I’ve enjoyed I think you might enjoy too…

  • How To With John Wilson - I’m really enjoying this humorous documentary series at the moment! John films loads of weird, amusing, or eyecatching stuff in his daily life around New York and beyond, then cuts it together around a theme and narrates it in a dryly comedic, almost poetic manner.

  • I’m Tight - Louis Cole - This music video by Louis Cole is full of beautifully understated and ridiculous dance moves, choreographed by Louis himself!

  • Spencer Hansen’s Creature Sculptures - Spencer Hansen makes weird and wonderful creature sculptures out of reclaimed materials. Lots of them look very huggable, I want to be friends!

More in good stuff in the archives.

That’s it for now!

Let me know what you think of the stuff. Also, how are you? What have you been up to and/or enjoying? I’d be such a happy lad to hear from you :)
